Dear Lawrence Elementary Families,
I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and let you know I am excited to be serving as the interim principal at Lawrence Elementary. I had the opportunity to work with students and staff for a few days last week and I’m looking forward to moving into a full time role while Mrs. Gendron conducts the search for your new principal.
A little about me….I retired in June 2021 after working in education for 33 years. I have a wide range of experiences at every educational level. I obtained my BA in Elementary Education from Olivet College and my MA in Educational Leadership from WMU. I was a 1st grade teacher and a secondary PE and Health teacher at Bangor Public Schools for 10 years. Administratively, I served as a K-5 elementary principal at Bloomingdale Public Schools for 12 years and I finished my last 11 years in education as the superintendent at Bloomingdale Schools. I have worked on countless curriculum committees, school improvement and strategic planning committees.
I have lived in Southwest Michigan for 35 years. I have been married to my husband Dennis for 30 years. My husband is also a retired educator, and in retirement he teaches boxing and is a professor and wrestling coach at Olivet College. We have one son, Brian. Brian graduated from Olivet College last May with a degree in Sports and Recreation Management with a minor in coaching. He was also a member of the Olivet College wrestling team for 4 years.
I am excited to be joining the awesome staff at Lawrence Elementary School and I’m looking forward to my time here. My primary goals will be to handle the day-to-day building operations so there is no disruption of instruction for your children. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at any time by calling the elementary building main number.
